With our advanced HydroChill® cooling technology, we’ve combatted the summer heat in a clever and easy way. A modest addition to the turf’s filling supplies an average cooling range of 30-50 degrees and works on its own when wet by irrigation, rainfall, and dew.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

EVAPORATIVE COOLING TECHNOLOGY

Perspiration is an ordinary process of thermoregulation known as evaporative cooling. Evaporation of condensation from the skin’s surface has a cooling effect. In the same way, HydroChill® has shown to cool artificial green surfaces by the same process. As the turf surface is heated by solar radiation, water kept in the HydroChill® turf is released. Evaporating wetness gets rid of heat, leaving behind a cooler, more enjoyable surface for the players.

• HydroChill® uses moisture to produce a cooling effect. Rainfall, dew, and irrigation should help keep your lawn cool for days, depending on local weather conditions.
• HydroChill® can be integrated into most of Southwest Greens' infilled lawn systems.
• HydroChill® will not change the durability or warranty of Southwest Greens’ products.
• HydroChill® is UV-resistant and needs to be re-treated every two years for maximum effectiveness.

WHEN IS IT MOST EFFECTIVE?

The temperature outside doesn’t always dictate surface temperature. The solar radiation time period, the angle of the sun, cloud cover, wind, and many other elements all contribute to the temperature of the surface.

HydroChill® provides maximum benefit when the sun is closest to the Earth, as demonstrated in the solar radiation calendar. In the summer months in Metro New York, the sun is positioned overhead, causing surfaces to draw more energy, resulting in higher temperatures. The rotation of the Earth is likewise responsible for hourly variations in sunlight therefore making HydroChill® most effective during the hotter part of a clear day when most needed.
