Why synthetic turf is better than traditional grass for rooftops.

Rooftop Greenery

Green roofs have had an impact in cities across the world. Green roofs provide shade, remove heat from the air, and reduce the roof surface and the air temperatures surrounding it. These rooftops are a great way to expand square footage and enhance mental health by incorporating a green outdoor escape in the concrete jungle. By choosing synthetic, you can open up the possibilities for creating a creative space in an otherwise boring spot.

Perks of Synthetic Grass Rooftops

Installing artificial turf on a rooftop has numerous benefits. Here are just a few of our favorites:

Easy to Clean

Synthetic grass is very easy to keep clean and well-preserved.

Lightweight

When compared to organic grass, it poses no safety risks or hazards, such as root and water damage.

Delivers Insulation

Protects interiors of buildings from sweltering heat and could provide resistance to mildew, decomposition, or mold.

Reduced Maintenance

Synthetic grass if installed properly, will last for a very long time and require minimal maintenance.

Adds Value

Creates an easy escape while remaining in the concrete jungle.

Safe Space for Pets and Kids

With artificial turf, your children and pets won’t be susceptible to harmful fertilizers, pesticides, and weedkillers.

Create A Unique Look

Synthetic turf makes it simple to put turf where natural grass wouldn’t grow, and you can make unique figures, or even put them on walls if you wish.

Which Fiber Type Should You Go For?

There are numerous factors to consider when selecting synthetic grass, let alone what would be suitable for a rooftop. Here are a few critical factors to keep in mind when evaluating options:

Nylon is a long-lasting fabric, but outdoor areas are susceptible to expansion/contraction and more likely to fade.

We recommend nylon for indoor use or situations with extreme commercial traffic or non-fill areas. All non-infill nylon Shaw products are subjected to thorough flammability testing to satisfy building codes.

For a rooftop commercial area, we recommend an infill PE tape product.

PE tape is durable without compromising performance; high grade PE resins are fade-resistant and not susceptible to expansion and contraction. Our Play-Safe collection delivers the best results for this application.
